News of Interest from St. Charles

On Tuesday of last week occurred the death of Mrs. Ellen Van Hosen Porter at her home in New Virginia after a brief illness. She was 84 years of age and is survived by three sons, Floyd of Des Moines, Everett of near Norwalk, and Sam of near Truro, and several grandchildren, also a brother and sister who live in the western states. Two daughters died in infancy and her husband W. S. Porter preceded her in death, in 1930.

Funeral services were held at New Virginia Thursday afternoon with burial in the family lot in the St. Charles cemetery.
