Page 7Week’s Letter from Earlham
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Welch funeral home for Mr. Edgar Hockett of Omaha, Nebraska who passed away from prostration of the heat Saturday.
Mr. Hockett, who was fifty one years old, was the son of the late J. W. Hockett, who lived in Earlham many years ago. He was also the brother of Mrs. Jesse Hester of Earlham. One other sister, Mrs. John Morgan of Arkansas came to attend the funeral services. Besides the two sisters he leaves one brother in California.
Rev. Reese of the Friends church conducted the services. Two songs, “Jesus Lover of My Soul” and “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” were sung by Mrs. Mildred Maxwell and Miss Mildred Reese. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Edgar Hockett, 51, of Omaha, Nebraska, died in Omaha Saturday following prostration from the heat. The body has been brought here and the funeral will be held at the Welch Funeral Home Friday afternoon at 2:30. Interment will be made in the Earlham cemetery.
Mr. Hockett was the son of J. W. Hockett, an early resident here. He grew up in this community but left here about 25 years ago. He was a brother of Mrs. Jesse Hester of Earlham.
