Clifford True Benedict, 58, of Winterset died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at his residence in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 12, at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with Pastor Bruce Wangler officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
Clifford was born on June 24, 1953, at Nebraska City, Neb., to Delbert and Mildred (Ballard) Benedict. He was previously married to Carolyn Jean Rankin with their wedding date being July 29, 1972. To this union were born two children. He had been a resident of the Winterset and Macksburg area most of his life and had worked bridge construction as a diesel hammer operator. Clifford enjoyed fishing and hunting and had a passion for clearing rural pieces of land that he turned into small parks and recreation areas for all people to enjoy. Clifford also attended the Word of Life Christian Center near Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Mildred “Pat” (Ballard) Benedict.
Clifford is survived by his children, Billy True Benedict of Winterset and Jennifer Jean (Kelly) Hartley of Greenfield; brother, Paul Benedict of La.; sisters, Ramona Cunningham of Texas, Rebecca Weatherly of St. Charles, Patsy Banks of Florida, Sharon Brittain of Florida, and Beverly Cave of Stuart; granddaughter, Shelly Hartley; and great-grandchild, Jaden Robinson.
Memorials may be given to his family for a future designation.
