MAURICE BREEN DIES

Aged Lee Township Resident Succumbs After Short Illness

Maurice Breen, aged resident of Lee township, died at his home Monday noon, March 20th. Mr. Breen had been ill, about the first of the year but had recovered and was in seemingly good health. Heart trouble caused his death however. Mr. Breen was 87 years of age and had lived on the same farm for the past sixty years. Two of his sons, George and Patrick resided with him. Mrs. Breen died two years ago last October.

The Rev. M. F. Dugan, pastor of St. Patrick’s church conducted his funeral services at the church Wednesday morning, March 22, at 10 o’clock, and burial was in the cemetery near the church.

The deceased is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Frank McDavitt of Omaha, and Miss Joan of Des Moines, and nine sons: Mike, Pat, and George of Winterset; John of Norwalk; Maurice of Omaha, Jim of Nogales, Arizona; Dan of Adair, Joe of Chicago, and Frank of Des Moines.

Those driving down from here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Breen and family, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Cunningham, Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Hartley, Ed Hartley Jr., Miss Katie Hartley, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Thrift and Harry Gaspari. Mrs. P. M. McNamara and daughter Miss Mary and son Ernest, and Miss Mary McNamara drove down to the house, Tuesday night.
