Page 4William Frederick Stifel, 81 years of age, died at his home in Boone township, Dallas county, Sunday, September 3rd after a long illness. Mr. Stifel was formerly a Madison county resident.
He was born in St. Louis, Missouri, August 18th, 1852. While a small child, the family moved to the vicinity of Burlington. Here he lived until the age of 21, when he moved to Murray in Clarke county. Later he moved to Madison county. Early in life he joined the Christian church.
In 1880 he was married to Miss Emma Lyons. They were the parents of five sons, Charles, Carl, Louis, Albert and Frank. Louis died August 24th, 1919. Mrs. Stifel died in 1890.
In 1901 Mr. Stifel married Miss Sevina Eichner at Winterset. They were the parents of five children: William, Earl, George, Anna and Clara, all of whom survive him. In addition to his wife and eight children, he is survived by eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran church in Jefferson township, Madison county and burial was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
