Beth Campbell Dies At 75 Years

Mrs. George Campbell of Ankeny, member of a prominent Winterset family died Tuesday, May 29 at Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was 75 years of age.

Mrs. Campbell was the former Elizabeth Aikins, daughter of Major Charles W. Aikins and Alice Cary Tade Aikins. She was born in Winterset March 27, 1898. She graduated from Winterset High School with the class of 1916, and received a B. A. degree from Des Moines College. She took advanced work at Chicago University, Columbia University in New York City and Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass.

She taught school in Winterset, Macksburg, Oneida, Grinnell, all in Iowa, and in Vermillion, South Dakota.

She was married to George C. Campbell of Winterset on September 21, 1925 in Atlantic. They made there home in Pennsylvania until 1947 then returned to Winterset where they lived until 1957, when they moved to Ankeny.

As a child she was affiliated with the First Baptist Church of Winterset. She was a member of the P.E.O. and Current Topic Club here and was active in community affairs.

Mrs. Campbell is survived by her husband, two sons, Robert A. Campbell of Ames and Douglas G. Campbell of St. Cloud, Minnesota; one grandson; and two sisters, Mrs. Charles A. Martin and Mrs. J. A. Schoenenberger, both of Winterset.

Funeral services were held Friday from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist Church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
