Joann Marie Smith was born in Des Moines June 5, 1954. She was the foster daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smith of Des Moines.

She passed away at the St. Mary’s hospital at Rochester, Minn., of a heart condition she had had since birth at the age of six years, two months, 13 days.

At the age of two weeks Mr. and Mrs. Smith got her from the Lutheran Welfare Society and gave her love and care until God called for her to come to him.

Joann would have started to school this fall.

Surviving are her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Smith of Des Moines, a foster brother Clifford Jr. of Des Moines; foster sisters Mrs. Audrey Egenberger of Lakewood, California and Patricia still at home; also her foster grandmothers Mrs. Henry Smith of Earlham and Mrs. Clark Sabin of Armstrong, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends who loved her very much.
