The funeral of Jennings Osborn occurred Wednesday afternoon at the Friends church with Rev. Lescault in charge of the service. The Masonic lodge attended in a body and had charge of the services at the grave.
Mr. Osborn was nearly 80 years old and was one of the first settlers of Iowa. He had been in poor health for several years.
His wife died many years ago, but his son, Orman and his wife are left to mourn the loss of a father.

Thursday, April 8, 1920Funeral services for Mr. Osborn were held at the Friends Church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Chas. Lescault. The Masonic fraternity were also in attendance in honor of their Brother who had been a member of the Order since the local chapter was organized. The service at the grave was conducted after the Masonic rite by Fred Nolte, of Stuart. Rev. Lescault also attended in prayer. The following account of the life of the deceased was read:
Jennings P. Osborn, one of seven children born to Elijah and Julia Osborn, was born in Hendricks County, Indiana, March 27th, 1844. The early years of his life were spent on the farm but at the age of eighteen he responded to the call of his country enlisting in Co. A. 77th Regiment of Indiana Cavalry. For three years he followed the flag of the North enduring the dangers and hardships of a soldiers life, but at the close of the war he returned to his home in Indiana and on Oct. 3rd, 1866 he was married to Margaret Nichols. Two children came to this home, Anna Laura, who died in infancy and Orman E. He moved to Iowa in 1869 being one of Iowa’s early pioneers but later he returned to Indiana for awhile, coming again to Iowa in 1880 and locating at Earlham where he resided the remaining years of his life.
On June 29th, 1907 his faithful loving wife died leaving him to go the closing thirteen years of his pilgrimage alone and the past two or three hears have been years of ill health and suffering. On April 5th, 1920 he departed this life at the age of 76 years and 8 days leaving one son Orman E. who with his wife have stayed in the fathers home giving him tender and faithful care for over two years. He leaves two brothers and one sister and numerous other relatives and friends.
Those present at the funeral of Jennings Osborn Wednesday were his sister Mrs. George Herine and son and daughter Sam and May of Bagley, Iowa, Mr. Low, of Sac City, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Osborn of Valley Junction, and Edgar Osborn of Tracy, Iowa, a nephew.
