Adel — A funeral for Melvin G. Vaughn, 75, of Adel was held July 6, 1988 at the Earlham United Methodist Church. Mr. Vaughn died of cancer on July 4 at Winterset Care Center North. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.

The son of James and Eva Vaughn, he was born at Marengo on Sept. 13, 1912. He married Barbara Clampitt at Earlham on June 2, 1946. He was a retired farmer, having lived in the Adel area since 1975. He lived at Earlham prior to that and was a member of the Earlham United Methodist Church, Earlham Masonic Lodge, Des Moines Consistory and Adel American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; two sons, David of San Jose, Calif. and Dennis of Winterset; two brothers, Frank of Seattle, Wash., and Charles of Titusville, Fla.; a sister, Myrtle Fatka of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
