Earlham, IowaOliver L. Walker, son of Ann Clithero and Lazenby Walker was born at Mazon, Illinois, December 8, 1863 and departed this life at his home in Earlham on May 15, 1941 at the age of 77 years, five months and seven days.
He was the youngest of six children two of whom died in infancy. His parents were pioneers first in Ohio and later in Grundy county, Illinois. His father was a soldier in the Civil War and died in the service when Oliver was only a few weeks old.
On November 28, 1889 he was united in marriage to Cora B. Bagley and two children were born to this union.
On March 1st, 1904 the family moved to Iowa, living near Dexter for several years and later moving to Earlham in 1911.
Mr. Walker joined the Methodist church in his early youth and continued in his membership until his death, affiliating with the Earlham church on his coming to this town.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, one son R. B. Walker of Council Bluffs, one daughter, Mrs. Mervyn McLennan of Earlham, three grandchildren Rachel Ann and Gene Oliver Walker and Ruth Irene McLennan, one brother E. W. Walker of Gibson City, Illinois, and several nephews and nieces.
Out of town relatives present at the funeral services were: Mr. E. W. Walker and sons Floyd and Myr of Gibson City, Illinois, Mrs. Maude Ely of Wilmington, Illinois, Mrs. U. G. Taylor of Mazon, Illinois, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison Bagley and two children and Mrs. Nellie Bagley of Milford, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bagley of Spencer, Iowa, Mr. Leslie Preston and daughter Lorraine of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Walker and son Gene of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Miss Rachel Anne Walker of Columbia, Missouri.
