Formerly of WintersetIlene Koehn, 103, of Ames, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at Bickford Cottage in Ames. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 19, from noon to 7 p.m. at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, Iowa with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery.
A memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Winterset with Rev. Jim Howland officiating.
Ilene was born on February 7, 1908, at Casey, Iowa to J.O. and Ethel (Partlow) Doop. At an early age her family moved to Winterset, and in 1925 Ilene graduated from Winterset High School. She went on to attend college for four years. On October 29, 1931, Ilene married C.O. Koehn at Winterset. She spent the rest of her life in Winterset except for the last year when she moved to Ames to be near her daughter. Ilene had been a social worker for the State of Iowa and a homemaker. She had been a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Eastern Star, and Progressive Study Club. In her spare time she loved to play cards, dance and socialize. Ilene and her husband also enjoyed traveling.
Ilene is survived by her daughter, Mary Jo (David) Johnson of Ames; son, William J. (Francia) Koehn of Pacific City, Oregon; five grandchildren; twelve great- grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dr. C.O. Koehn.
Memorials given to her family will be directed to the First United Presbyterian Church.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
