Funeral services for Mrs. Flora Sylvester were held Saturday afternoon Sept. 9, 1967 at the Assembly of God Church in Burton, Nebr., with Rev. and Mrs. Harold James of Bonesteele, S. D. and Rev. Wayne Jameson officiating.

Stanley Larson was the soloist and Mrs. Orrin Thiede, pianist. Pallbearers were Leonard Libolt, Howard Thiede, Kenneth Cook, Duane Wilkins, Marlow Newman and Keith Sloan.

Flora Ellen Rhodes was born Dec. 19, 1875 at Winterset, Ia., to Melvin and Melvina Rhodes. When she was 6 years old, they came to Nebraska to make their home. They homesteaded in eastern Keya Paha county for a short time and and then returned to Iowa. They then moved back to Nebraska and settled near Stuart.

On March 31, 1895, she was married to Ben Sylvester and spent most of her life in or near Burton.

To this union was born 5 children: Hazel Libolt Wilkins, Minnie Wallace, Viola Worrell, Beryl Lewis and Willard.

She was converted during a revival meeting in 1931 at Burton and lived a faithful Christian life until her death. After becoming a Christian, she became a charter member of the Burton Assembly of God church.

After spending about three years at the Bassett Nursing Home, she died at Rock Hospital Sept. 7, 1967, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 19 days. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Hazel and Viola and her husband, Ben.

Survivors are two daughters and one son, 11 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Interment was at the Olive Branch Cemetery at Mills, Neb.
