2011Injuries fatal to Robert Blanchard
(March 28, 1936)Robert Blanchard 59, who suffered serious injuries Monday afternoon when he was struck by a car driven by W.D. Nissen of Creston, died at Greater Community Hospital at 4:30 yesterday afternoon.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon from the Christian Church, conducted by pastor, Rev, E.E. Lister, Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. The body will remain at the Roland funeral home until time for the services.
Robert Leo Blanchard was born March 11, 1877, in Madison county, Iowa, the son of Orange and Elizabeth Blanchard. He moved to Creston at 11 years of age.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Daily Blanchard, 10 children, Allen Blanchard of Creston, Mrs. Myrtle Allen of Winterset, Mrs. Bertha Wiley of Creston, Mrs. Margaret Needles of Creston, Mrs. Marie Perry of Fontanelle, Mrs. Irene Overholser of Creston, Alfred, Mildred, Mae, and Ray, all of the home; four brothers, Billy and Ben of East Peru, Harmon of Osceola and Fred of Cromwell; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Zybatth of Creston and Mrs. Sadie Wheeler of Riverside, CA, a step-son, Luther Keller of Creston; three grandchildren and 1 great grandchildren.
