To the friends and neighbors it was a great shock indeed when they learned that after a brief illness, Mrs. Ralph P. Price suddenly passed to the great beyond at seven o’clock on the evening of April 3, 1920.

When one ---- that Mrs. Price was such a young woman, being yet in the prime of life, at an age of slightly over 37 years, it was hard to realize that she must go, but somehow we feel and have faith in our Dear Heavenly Father that this life in the brighter world shall still go on to completeness.

Mabelle J. Potter was born January 7th, 1883 in Washington, Illinois, coming to Iowa with her parents when she was but three months old. From childhood up Mabelle was religiously inclined and gave her heart to God when she was but a mere child and truly lived a conscientious Christian life divine her entire life. The first church of her choice was the M.E. church at Fairview, which institution she joined at a very early age. Her parents at that time were member of that church. At the age of 16 she united with the Chruch of Christ at DeSoto, Iowa and at the time of her death she was a member of the Church of Christ at Earlham.

On September 7th, 1904 she was united in marriage with Ralph R. Price, and the first years of their married life were spent in and near DeSoto. Eight years ago she came with her family to Earlham, at which place she resided up to the time of her decease.

Mrs. Price leaves to mourn her husband Ralph R. Price, five children, namely Forrest, age 14, Arleigh, aged 11, Darlene, aged 8, Paul, aged 3 and baby Vergene, only four days old; her father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Potter, of DeSoto, Iowa; two brothers, Elmer M. Potter, of Des Moines and Verne F. of Phoenix, Arizona; three sisters, Theresa, who is a student of the State University of Iowa, and Bertha and Genevieve, of Fresno, Calif., and also a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

Mabelle, physically, was not a very strong woman but she always bore her trials bravely. She was completely wrapped up in her family and was everything a loving mother and devoted wife could be. But the most highly commendable trait in her character was that in all things she placed her Savior first of all.

Upon several occasions the writer visited in the home and can frankly say that from her sunny disposition and pleasing personality he learned a --- of patience and endurance that shall cling to him the remainder of his life and feels with the sorrowing ones he has lost a true friend.

In summing up her life no words could be more appropriate than those taken by the Master of the world ------- that anointed Him in the most time of need: “She did what she could.”

Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon at two-thirty, conducted by the pastor Rev. H. F. Riese, and the mortal remains of the brave little mother tenderly consigned to rest in Earlham Cemetery. --------H.F.R.
