Burial Here for Nona Greenwood

Mrs. Nona Greenwood, 92 years old, a resident of Winterset for many years, died November 15 at Pleasant Hill Nursing Center in Des Moines, where she had lived for over seven years.

Graveside services were conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 17, at the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Greenwood was born March 15, 1883, in Wabash County, Indiana, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George W. Croft, and came to Winterset with her parents in 1889. She was a school teacher in Iowa, Colorado and Texas until impaired hearing forced her to retire from that work and she became a seamstress.

She was married in Winterset on March 1, 1937, to Eli Greenwood, an early day sale barn operator here, and they resided in Winterset several years before they retired at Branson, Missouri. In 1955, they moved to Des Moines where Mr. Greenwood died on April 3, 1958.

Mrs. Greenwood was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Winterset.

Survivor include two brothers, George Croft of Des Moines and Lt. General (Retired) Frank Croft of Coronado, Calif., and several nephews and nieces.
