Whitworth Death Last Saturday

A resident of Madison County for 63 years, Mary Edith Whitworth died October 4, 1975, at her home at 301 West Jefferson in Winterset.

Mrs. Whitworth was 84 years old, the daughter of Thomas J. Brown and Alica Skidmore Brown. She was born February 22, 1891 in Pilot Mound, Iowa.

The marriage of Mrs. Whitworth took place June 6, 1912 at Indianola. Mrs. Whitworth was a charter member of the Wayside Garden Club in Macksburg, a P.T.A. member and a 50-year member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service. She was affiliated with the Methodist Church and was occupied as a homemaker throughout her life.

Surviving Mrs. Whitworth is her husband, Lyle Merton Whitworth, and two sons, Milford L. Whitworth of Logan, Utah and Arthur B. Whitworth of Winterset.

Also surviving are nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and two sisters, Lena Steward of Richland Center, Wisconsin and Genevieve Aggeler of Melford, Oregon.

Mrs. Whitworth was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two sisters and a grandchild.

Funeral services for Mary Edith Whitworth were conducted Tuesday, October 7 at 1:30 p.m. from the First United Methodist Church of Winterset with Rev. Paul Bousfield and Rev. Willis E. Grant officiating.

Burial was made at the Moon Cemetery in Macksburg.
