Ormal Bane Dies at 61

Ormal H. Bane, a well-known Jefferson Township farmer south of Van Meter, died September 20 at Villa West Care Center in Winterset. He was 61 years of age.

A son of Jesse and Florence Utterback Bane, he was born in Madison County on June 27, 1914.

He was a past member of the DeSoto school board, a member of the Eagles Lodge in Des Moines and the DeSoto Methodist Church.

Mr. Bane is survived by two children, Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Babb of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. Henry (Beverly) Bechtel of Des Moines; also six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Funeral services for Mr. Bane were held Tuesday afternoon from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. Orin Potter of Adel officiating. Burial was in the Winterset Cemetery.
