Roy Haynes Dies at St. Charles

Funeral services were held this Tuesday afternoon, May 20, from the St. Charles United Methodist Church for Roy L. Haynes.

Mr. Haynes died Sunday, May 18, at his home in St. Charles. He was 84 years of age.

A son of Lase and Elizabeth Jones Haynes, he was born at Hanley in South township on Feb. 28, 1891. He was educated in Madison County schools.

On Sept. 11, 1912 he was married to Gladys Robinette.

Mr. Haynes was affiliated with the Methodist Church.

Surviving are a son, Bernal (Pete) Haynes of St. Charles, two grandchildren, four great grandchildren; one brother, Clarence Haynes of Des Moines; and two sisters, Flo Holliday of Des Moines, and Ida Johnson of Perry, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his wife, two sisters and one brother.

Officiating at the service Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. was the Rev. Eldon Ringle of St. Charles. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
