John Junior Brant, son of John Erven Brant and Ruth Eva (Hamman) Brant was born June 12, 1921 near Truro, Iowa and passed from this life Monday, September 12, 2011 at Westbridge Care and Rehabilitation in Winterset, Iowa at 90 years of age.
John graduated from Truro High School. He was united in marriage to Mary Evelyn Neidt on September 5, 1942 at Princeton, Missouri. John farmed in the Truro area all his life. He was a member of the Truro Congregational United Church of Christ. He served as Church superintendent 40 years ago when it was the Congregational Christian Church. John loved to read, fish, ride his horse and spend time with his grandchildren.
Those relatives who preceded John in death were his parents; children, Raymond Dean, Lance and Beverly in infancy; sisters, Freda Brant and Marie Brant; and brothers, William Brant and Walter Brant.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Mary Evelyn Brant of Truro; daughter, Mary Austin of St. Charles; son, Eric Brant of Truro; grandchildren, Tana (Kurt) Krumm of Van Meter, Jared Austin of Des Moines, Jackie (Jeff) Wagner of Truro, Karla (Jeff) Heaberlin of Indianola; great- grandchildren, Miranda, Valerie, Maddie, Logan, Troy and Laurel; other relatives and many friends.
There will be a visitation on Friday, September 16, 2011 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola; the family will be present 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.
Interment of cremains and a Private Family Service will be in the Peru Cemetery at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Truro Library or Truro Fire & Rescue.
