Betty L. Gibbons Rites Held Today

Funeral services were held at St. Charles this Wednesday afternoon for Betty Lou Gibbons, 44, of rural Norwalk. Mrs. Gibbons died Sunday, March 9 at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.

Mrs. Gibbons was born at Creston on September 4, 1930, the daughter of Arthur and Bernice Armstrong Smart. She was educated at Murray, and was married to Wayne Gibbons in Winterset on October 3, 1948.

Mrs. Gibbons was a member of the St. Charles Methodist church.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne Gibbons of Norwalk; one son, Terry, of Cumming; and four daughters: Debbie Lash and Cindy Wadle of Prole and Tammy and Tracy at home. Other survivors include her mother, Mrs. Bernice Smart of Prole; one sister, Catherine Jean Estell of Norwalk; three brothers, Samuel Smart of Memphis, Tennessee, William Armstrong of Memphis, Tennessee and Jerry Armstrong of Delton, Missouri; and four grandsons.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. this Wednesday, March 12 at the St. Charles Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
