CLARENCE A. BITTINGER, Winterset

Clarence "Bud" Bittinger, 89, of Winterset died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2011, at Madison County Memorial Hospital.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winterset with a private family burial at Winterset Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m today (Wednesday, Aug. 17) at the church where family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Bud was born April 9, 1922, in Belvedere, Neb. On Sept. 28, 1968, he married Shirley LaFlamme Aikin. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Joseph’s and was a retired carpenter.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Jeffrey Aikin; Glenn Aikin, Todd Aikin, and Sheryl Sirdoreus; brothers, Robert Bittenger and Donald Bittinger; 17 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

McCalley-Collins Funeral Home in Winterset is handling arrangements.
