Funeral Held For MRS. EMMA THOMPSON

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the Fisher Funeral home in Van Meter for Mrs. Emma A. Thompson of Van Meter whose death had occurred April 9 at the Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 88 years of age.

Mrs. Thompson was a native of Cambridge, O., where she was born June 2, 1878. She was the former Emma Arvilla Addy, daughter of Alex and Mary Howell Addy. She came with her parents to Iowa, when she was 5 years of age.

She was married March 3, 1902 to David H. Thompson. They spent their active years farming in Madison County.

She was a long time member of the Jefferson E.U.B. church, later transferred to the Van Meter church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and a daughter, Clara. Surviving are three children, Glenn Thompson of Winterset, Mrs. Mary Rogers of Portland, Ore., and Clarence Thompson of Van Meter, 11 grandchildren, a brother, Orvie Addy of Winterset, and two sisters, Mrs. Leo Walters of Rapid City, S. Dak., and Mrs. Greta Dorrell of Hattiesburg, Miss.
