Mary Jane Haines, 74, of the 4100 block of 67th Street in Urbandale died of congestive heart failure Thursday at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Westover Funeral Home, with burial at St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles.

Mrs. Haines was born in St. Charles and had lived in Des Moines and Urbandale most of her life. She worked as a receiving clerk at K-Mart. She enjoyed playing piano, shopping, and collecting rocks and shells.

She is survived by four daughters, Rachel Crandall, Becky Ervin and Billie Haines, all of Urbandale, and Mona Sharp of Newton; four sons, Brian of Truro, Duane of Johnston, Schuyler of Urbandale and James Jr., of San Diego; 24 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill.

Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at Westover Funeral home, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or Hospice Kavanagh House.
