Sarah Katherine, daughter of Isaac and Mary Reager, was born in Madison County, Iowa, October 2, 1954, and departed this life July 10, 1934, aged 79 years, 9 months and 8 days.
She was married to Isaac Ward, march 2, 1881, and immediately they came west to Norton County, just east of Norcatur, where Mr. Ward had previously located on a homestead.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Ward, Bert and Cloyd, of Douglas, Ariz., Mae Sebaugh of Norton, Walter, Leo, Erl and Mrs. Bessie Canfield, of Norcatur. Floyd and Emma died in Infancy.
She leaves a sister, Mrs. Ann Ward, and a Brother, W. W. Reager, of Norcatur, also 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of relatives and many, many friends.
In 1913, she and her husband moved to Republican City, Nebr., resided there for one year, then moved to Norcatur, where she spent the remaining days of her life.
Mrs. Ward was united with the M. E. church when she was 16 years of age, and had lived in the faith, in that church, thru the years.
She had been in poor health a number of years, but her home had been a constant gathering place for her family and friends, and she was always there to welcome them.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. I. W. Torrence, at the Community M. E. Church, and interment in the Norcatur cemetery, beside her husband who preceded her a number of years.
