LAST RITES FOR MRS. ELIZA LEDDY MONDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 1939

The funeral service for Mrs. Eliza Leddy was held at the March Chapel, Monday afternoon, September 11 with Rev. M.C. Bullick, pastor of the Congregational Church officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. S.R. Parks who sang "My Faith Looks Up to Thee" and "Abide with Me". Burial was in the Ashland Cemetery.

Four grandsons, Charles Marshall, Ray Marshall, William Leddy and John Leddy, and two husbands of granddaughters, Earl Nichols, and Ople Morris, acted as pallbearers.

Eliza Jane Daniel, daughter of Smith and Delila (Owen) Daniel, was born in Indiana on November 7, 1848. She departed this life on September 8, 1939 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Phillip Duerr, near Ashland, at the age of 90 years, 10 months, and 1 day.

At the age of seven she moved with her family to Madison County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to William Leddy at Winterset, Iowa on June 10, 1873, and they made their home in that community until 1881 and three children, Mary, Anna, and John were born there.

In 1881 they moved to Cass County, Nebraska, where they lived for two and one half years, then returning to Iowa for two and one half years. In 1886 they settled on a farm three miles west of South Bend, Nebraska, where another son, William was born. There her husband passed away on March 21, 1914, but she continued her residence on the home farm until 1928, since which time she has made her home, most of the time, with her daughter, Mrs. Phillip Duerr, south of Ashland.

Mrs. Leddy is survived by her four children, Mary, Mrs. Henry Ohlerking of Wabash; Anna, Mrs. Phillip Duerr; John and William of Ashland; 18 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Grandmother Leddy leaves a host of friends who mourn her passing. She was active in her community and during her active years was a friend and willing helper to everyone; and at times of birth, sickness, and death, she was always present to lend a helping hand. All who knew her will remember her for her kindness, generosity, and interest in the welfare of others.
