WILLIAM HENRY JOHNSON, Van Meter, Ia

William Henry Johnson was born to Roy Neal and Emogene Fern (Cutshall) Johnson on March 21, 1953 while they lived on the family farm in northern Madison county.

He attended school in Van Meter, then one year at Central College in Pella and one year at ISU in Ames.

William worked several route sales jobs in the Des Moines area, built an Amway distributorship, owned a National Video store in West Des Moines, worked overnight shifts at K-Mart and Kwik Shop, did snowplow work for 13 years, and drove OTR, but the most rewarding time was the eight years he spent caring for his mother after she was disabled by a severe stroke.

William lived on the family farm in Madison county until 1963, and at 10 moved in to Van Meter. In 1975, he bought a house in Ames and married Jeanne Lee Hibbs. In 1977, they moved to a house in West Des Moines and lived there until divorced in 1985 and then moved back to Van Meter in 1989 where he lived until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an older sister, Janice Elaine Johnson. He did not have any children and leaves no surviving family members.

There will be a simple graveside service on Saturday, July 23 at 10 a.m. at Fairview Cemetery between De Soto and Winterset.
