Brown, Jacob Franklin

Jacob Franklin Brown, son of Benjamin Frank and Sarah Lee Brown, born May 22, 1872, in Madison County, near Peru, la., passed away May 6, 1953, at his home in Sharpsburg.

April 12,1893 Jacob Brown was united in marriage to Myrtle Cathrine Ginn. To this union 7 children were born. Lizzie C. Davis, the eldest, preceded him in death. In June, 1893, Mr and Mrs. Brown were baptized and united with the Seventh Day Adventist Church and they have remained faithful to the belief.

Mr. Brown came to Taylor County with his father and mother at the age of seven. He is the first of the five children to pass away.

He is survived by his wife and six children: Jessie B. Samples, Burryn Spring, Mich.; Judson N. Brown, Scottsbluff, Neb.; Benjamin F. Brown, Sandoval, N. M.; Ransom J. Brown, Lincoln, Neb.; Carnott T. Brown, Glenwood, Wash.; Sarah C. Nelson Clear Lake, Wisc.; their companions, 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, his sisters and brothers, his eldest sister Dora Davis, Boulder, Col.; Martin E. Brown, Milton, Ore.; Lizzie Philpott, Freewater, Ore.; Edson E. Brown, Blanche, Colo.; and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Presbyterian Church at Sharpsburg. Services were conducted by Elder Stanley Pederson assisted by Rev. Donald Watkins and Rev. E. John Kess.

Burial was on the family lot beside his father and mother in Lenox cemetery.
