ANDREW GOLWITZER, Winterset

Andrew Michael Golwitzer, 18, of Lorimor died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at Madison County Health Care System in Winterset.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 23, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.

Andrew was born March 26, 1993, in Des Moines; the son of Robert and Anne (Behounek) Golwitzer. He was a senior at Winterset High School graduating in the class of 2011 and was planning to attend the University of Iowa this fall, where he had been accepted into the Mechanical Engineering Program. He worked at Maid Rite in Winterset. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Winterset, and the Shooting Stars 4-H Club. He was goal keeper on the varsity soccer team since he was a freshman, and played baseball and ran cross country as well.

He was preceded in death by a half-sister, Jill Golwitzer; his maternal grandmother, Agnes “Teddy” Behounek and his paternal grandfather, John Golwitzer.

He is survived by his parents, Bob and Anne Golwitzer of Lorimor; a sister, Sarah Golwitzer of Lorimor; two half-brothers, Bobby Golwitzer of Denver, Colo., and Brad Golwitzer of Ankeny; grandparents, Dennis Behounek of Livermore and Theresa Golwitzer of Algona; maternal aunts and uncles, Denise Christianson of Bode, Mike Behounek of Livermore, Chris Behounek of Duluth, Minn., and Jeannine Zuck of Dunkerton; paternal aunts and uncles, Marlene Raney of Algona, Joan Eisenbarth of Humboldt, Jan Lanus of Algona, Darrell Golwitzer of Sacramento, Calif., David Golwitzer of Algona, Gina Holtzbaur of Ames, Brian Golwitzer of Forest City, and Sheri Zeimet of Wesley. He is also survived by many cousins and a host of friends.
