BEN GOLDSMITH, Illinois

Ben H. Goldsmith, 57, of Bushnell, Ill., died Monday, May 16, 2011, at his home.

Cremation will be accorded. A celebration of life service was held Saturday, May 21, at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel in Abingdon, Ill., with Rev. Dan Brown officiating. Memorials may be made to Harbor Lights Hospice.

Ben was born on Nov. 13, 1953, in Moline, Ill., the son of Benjamin F. and Margaret Ruth (McMurl) Goldsmith. He married Millie Osborne on April 3, 1993, in Bushnell. He grew up in Beardstown and graduated from Beardstown High School. He attended Spoon River Community College for two years. Ben was a Navy Veteran. He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He has lived in Bushnell the past 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his father; one sister, Ruth M. Sipes; one brother, Kenneth A. Goldsmith; and one niece, Wendy Sue Sipes.

He is survived by his wife, Mille; his mother, Margaret Ruth Beutin of Beardstown, Ill.; sons, Jason Goldsmith and Justin Goldsmith of Winterset, Rob Goff and Bill Lockwood of Bushnell; daughter, Mary Ann Hulsey of Bushnell; sister, Anna K. Murk of Bushnell; and 22 grandchildren.
