Walter Jacob Peterson, a retired carpenter, died Thursday in a Portland-area hospital. He was 83.
Peterson, who was born in Madison County, Iowa, moved to Portland several years ago. He served in WWII.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; son, Nels of Portland; daughters, Kay Arnold of Albany and Marjorie Peterson of Portland; sister, Stella of Winterset, Iowa and eight grandchildren.
Funeral is at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Foster Road Funeral Home, with private interment in Willamette National Cemetery.
