CLARENCE GEAR Died Saturday

Clarence Gear, a long-time resident of the Barney community, died Saturday, June 27, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Gear was a native of Kansas where he was born in Marshall county July 7, 1885, a son of Milton and Ada Mason Gear. Most of his life was spent in Madison county, near Barney, where he engaged in farming. He retired and moved to Winterset in 1957.

He was married Aug. 19, 1911 at Creston to Minnie E. Leasman, who survives him. A daughter Mrs. Genevieve Sullivan, died last January.

He was a member of the Presbyterian church.

In addition to his wife, he leaves five grandchildren; three brothers, Willard, Clyde and John Gear, all of Canada; and three sisters, Mrs. Alice Fjorlie, Mrs. Melissa Vawter and Mrs. Mary Schwanebeck, all of Canada.

Funeral services were held Tuesday from Collins Funeral home, conducted by Max Tjon and the Rev. William E. Bowles. Burial was made in the Barney cemetery.
