Earl Thomas Dies At 73

Funeral services were held last Friday for Earl 'Shorty' Thomas a well known trucker in this community. Mr. Thomas died at Madison County Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, January 9 at the age of 73.

Mr. Thomas was born in Madison County on January 4, 1901, the son of William and Olive Harrison Thomas. He was married to Hilda Porter in Winterset on December 25, 1921.

Mr. Thomas was a lifetime resident of Madison County where he had engaged in the trucking business for many years.

He is survived by several cousins and by a number of nieces and nephews. His wife preceded him in death on December 18, 1973. Also preceding him in death were his parents, three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, January 11, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset with the Rev. H. E. Borum officiating.

Burial was at the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg.
