Richard Ardean Yaw, 60, of Horseshoe Bend, Ark., died Sunday, April 10, 2011, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola on Saturday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. Family will gather and visit with friends at the Osceola United Methodist Church following the memorial service. Richard's body was cremated. Memorial contributions, in his name, may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Richard was born March 21, 1951, in Des Moines to Arthur Yaw and Patsy Emma (Oyres) Collins. He attended Lincoln High School and graduated from Indianola High School in 1969. He was united in marriage to Linda Margene Putney on July 29, 1969, in Indianola. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict from 1970-1974. Richard attended the National Education Center and was an electronics instructor there. He was employed at Dictaphone for many years. His most recent employment was as Postmaster Relief for the United States Postal Service; he was postmaster at Truro for 2-3 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lonnie Benson in infancy; and grandson, Kenneth Burk in infancy.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Yaw of Truro; his daughters, Cherrie Burk of Osceola, Mindy Yaw of Truro and Misty Green of New Virginia; a brother, Rodney Oyres; five grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
