Betty Wilson, 77, died April 7, 2011, at her home in Winterset.
A graveside service was held Monday, April 11, at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at their discretion.
Betty was born in Carroll, Iowa, on Nov. 30, 1933, the daughter of Harold and Avo ““Dobby”” (Doubenmeier) Townsend. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1952. She married Larry Wilson in Elk Point, South Dakota on June 24, 1977. Betty began her working career as owner/operator of E.E. Lewis Women’’s Store in Sac City. In 1978, she moved to Kimberling City, Mo., and later Richmond, Mo., in 1985, where she worked for the Richmond High School as lunchroom cashier. Betty has resided in Winterset since 2001. She was a member of the Sac City Chamber of Commerce, a former member of the Eastern Star, and of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution). Betty was also a member of the Sac City Presbyterian Church and the Winterset Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William Townsend.
Betty is survived by her husband, Larry of Winterset; her children, Tracy Drey of Schaller, Robert McKee of Bolivar, Mo., Laticia McKee of Winterset, Susan Dingman of Lisle, Ill., and Steven Wilson of Carlisle; a sister, Ann Davidson of Des Moines; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
