FRANCIS LYNCH, CUMMING

Francis Lynch, 83, of Cumming died Saturday, April 2, 2011, at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines surrounded by his family.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (Wednesday, April 6) at St. Patrick Irish Settlement in Cumming. A scripture service was held Tuesday evening, April 5, at Caldwell-Raddatz Funeral Home in Urbandale. Burial will be in the St. Patrick Irish Settlement Cemetery.

Francis was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to James and Susie Lynch on Sept. 30, 1927. After graduating from high school in Winterset, he worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture for over 40 years until his retirement in 1989. Francis also farmed his entire life, which he truly enjoyed. After his retirement, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and he had a special fondness for animals.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Shirley Wilgenbusch (Pete) of St. Charles, Sharon Benshoof (Ted) of Winterset, and Debbie Porter (Tom) of Cumming; six grandchildren, Amy McCasland (Doug), Andy Wallace (Jocelyn), Joe Wilgenbusch (Heather), Lori Vander Heiden (Ted), Kevin Porter (Jenny) and Holly Porter; nine great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Luke, Adam, Shelby, Travis, Tyler, Sydney, Lane and Lauren; brothers, John (Joan) and Donald Lynch; sister-in-law, Georgia; many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Memorials may be directed to the American Parkinson’’s Disease Association of Iowa in memory of Francis Lynch.
