Mrs. Roberts Dies At 86

Funeral services for Florence Roberts, a long-time resident of Madison and Adair counties, were held Tuesday afternoon, June 24 from the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.

Mrs. Roberts died June 22 at Madison annex nursing home in Winterset. She was 86 years old. A daughter of Franklin Scott and Hattie Garvey Fleming, she was born January 10, 1882 at Valpariso, Indiana.

She was married to Thomas A. Roberts October 9, 1900. He preceded her in death July 23, 1953.

Mrs. Roberts was a member of the Webster Methodist church.

One of twelve children, she was in death by three sisters and four brothers.

Surviving are three children, Hazel, Mrs. Earl Crawford of Winterset; Edith, Mrs. Dale Niblo of Winterset and Clifford Roberts of Seattle, Washington; five grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Ernest Fleming of Seattle; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Gardner of Long Beach, California, Mrs. Blanche Wells of Seattle, Mrs. Nell Root of St. Paul, Minnesota.

Officiating at the funeral Tuesday was the Rev. Ward -------------------- and burial was made at Penn Center cemetery.

Roberts Services Held Last Tuesday

Among those who were here at a distance on Tuesday of last week to attend the funeral services for Mrs. Florence Roberts were Mrs. Nell Root of St. Paul, Minnesota, Norman Roberts of Dallas Center, Mr. and Mrs. David Wright, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Plymesser and Mr. and Mrs. Wendall Mitchell of Adel, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Norman of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Moore of Booneville, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Luhrs and family of Casey, Mrs. Mary Roberts, Ivan and Claude of Dexter.

Also, Mr. and Mrs. Charley Beaman, Mrs. Velma Beaman, Mrs. Rex Rice, Mrs. Gladys Roberts, Mrs. Jim Roberts, Mrs. Amy Gatch, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Nollan, Mr. and Mrs. Ord Martin, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mitchell, Mrs. Worth Wilson, Marion Mitchell, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Nelson, all of Greenfield and Mrs. Mae Faust Beck of Burlington.
