Page 13Carrie Shambaugh Dies At 93 Years
Mrs. Carrie Shambaugh, a life-long resident of Madison County and member of a well known family here died Saturday, June 29 at Memorial hospital. She was 93 years of age.
Mrs. Shambaugh was the former Carrie Newlon, daughter of W. C. and Lydia Philbrick Newlon. She was born in Madison County March 4, 1875, and spent her entire life here.
She was married in 1897 to William E. Shambaugh. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Shambaugh was a member of the United Methodist church in which she was active until recent years. She was a members of the Woman's Society for Christian Service and was active in the Madison county Farm Bureau.
Surviving are seven children, Mrs. Dorothy Meyer, Russell Shambaugh, Mrs. Mary Collins, Ralph Shambaugh, Phil Shambaugh, Robert Shambaugh and Hubert Shambaugh. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services were held Monday from the First United Methodist church in Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Everett Burham and Rev. ------ of Van Meter.
Burial was made in the Union Chapel cemetery.
