Death of Mrs. W. A. Gardner

Mrs. W. A. Gardner died at her home near Barney, last Wednesday, October 23, at the age of 52 years. Mrs. Gardner had not been well since a paralytic stroke four years ago, but she became seriously ill one week before her death.

The deceased was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Smith Longshore, and she was born June 11, 1877, near Barney, on the farm where she lived almost her life time. She was married to Mr. Gardner on December 24, 1899.

Rev. R. V. Hughes, assisted by Rev. Glenn Marshall, conducted the funeral service in the Barney Christian church, Friday, October 25th, and the burial was in the Barney cemetery. She leaves her husband, two brothers and three sisters. More details of her life may be found in the mortuary column.

Obituary – Mrs. W. A. Gardner

Minnie Gertrude, daughter of Mary and Smith Longshore, was born June 11, 1877 near Barney on the farm where she has lived almost her life time. Her girlhood was spent in the Barney neighborhood where she was married to William A. Gardner on December 24, 1899. After their marriage they lived for four years on a farm in Lincoln township, and then moved back to her birth place, which has since been their home.

For many years she had been an active member of the Barney Christian church a great deal of the time teaching the beginners class in the Sunday school.

She had not been well since a paralytic stroke four years ago and became bedfast a week before her death occurred on Wednesday, October 23, 1929 at the age of 52 years, 4 months and 12 days.

She leaves beside her husband, two brothers, Frank Longshore, of Ottawa Illinois; and Vincent, of Johnstown, Colorado; and three sisters, Mrs. Ella Stowell, Mrs. Sarah Cole and Mrs. Samantha Johns, all of Hutchinson, Kansas.

The Rev. R. V. Hughes assisted by the Rev. Glen Marshall, conducted the funeral service in the Barney Christian church Friday afternoon, October 25. Burial was in the Barney cemetery.
