Owen Leroy Beem, 80, of St. Charles died March 11, 2011, at V.A. Community Living Center. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa with family visitation on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Carlisle Cemetery following services.
Owen grew up at Avon Lake until the age of 16, when he enlisted into the Army/ Air Force. He was a proud Vet of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
On December 3, 1961, Owen married Violet Winger. They were blessed with four children.
Owen loved to fish, hunt, go camping and travel. He retired in 1986 from the Army Corps of Engineer.
Owen is survived by his children, two daughters, Diane (husband Dan) Harper of Murray; Cheryl (husband Roger) Moore of Des Moines; two sons, Roger (wife Lora) Beem of Tabor; Darrell (wife Michelle) Beem of Truro; sister, Karen Beem; brothers, Don Beem, Allen Beem and Gerald Beem;ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Owen is preceeded in death by his parents and two sisters, Arlene Fredrigill and Audrey Beem.
