Death of John McNeley

John McNeley, who has been ill for many months in Des Moines, died Tuesday, February 12th. Mr. McNeley formerly lived in Winterset, where he was an employee of J. J. Gaston for twenty years.

The funeral services will be held at the Tidrick funeral home this afternoon, at one-thirty o’clock and burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mr. McNeley has been suffering with cancer and complications for some time. He has been residing at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis Soderland. He is survived by two brothers, Jacob, of Winterset, and Ethel, of Des Moines. He is also survived by two sons and several daughters. Two daughters, Mrs. Martin Benson and Miss Susie McNeley, lived here until recently when they went to Perry.

FUNERAL RITES FOR FORMER CITIZEN

John McNeley Dies At Home Of Daughter In Des Moines After Long Illness

John McNeley, former Winterset citizen, died Tuesday afternoon in Des Moines at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Louis Soderland. The funeral will be held at 1:30 this afternoon, Thursday, at Tidrick’s funeral home. Burial will be in the Winterset cemetery.

John McNeley was born in Madison county, his father being one of the 1846 settlers. He lived in Winterset and on a farm many years. He was the trusted foreman many years of the J. J. Gaston implement store.

Jacob McNeley, of Winterset is a brother and he is survived by several children, two daughters, Mrs. Martin Benson, Susie McNeley who lives in Winterset, and several other children.
