Sometime in the early 40s he moved with his parents to Indiana, where he was married to Mary E. Berry, who preceded him in death March 23, 1913. He moved with his family to Iowa in the year 1856 and settled on a farm in Monroe township, Madison county, having lived on the same farm all these years.

Eight children were in this home, two died in infancy and a daughter, Mrs. Lizzie Edwards, in later years. The children present at the time of his death were Mrs. W. G. Bonham. Mrs. Andrew Smith and George and Victoria Klingensmith, all of Lorimor; and one son, Ed, not being able to be present, of Des Moines.

He united with the Methodist church at Kasson, Iowa, soon after that church was established and was a firm believer in the Christian faith, and a regular attendant at church services while his health permitted.

The funeral services were held at the home at one p.m. On Tuesday, June 13th, by the pastor of the M. E. church, Rev.Davis of Lorimor, and interment was in the Kilgore cemetery. Singing was conducted by the choir from the Kasson church which was greatly appreciated by the relatives.
