WILLIAM FISK MARSTON

W. F. Marston was born in Ashtabula county, Ohio, March 25, 1837 and died May 18, 1917. His age was 80 years, 1 month and 23 days.

In 1898 he moved with his parents to Henderson county, Illinois. Here he grew to manhood. In 1864 he was married to Miss Tabitha Nelson. To this union five children were born: Mrs. E. H. Payne, Mrs. C. O. Murphy, G. W. Marston, W. D. Marston and Mrs. C. R. Hunter, all of whom are living and were present except Mrs. C. R. Hunter, who died March 25, 1908. He moved with his wife and three children from Henderson county, Illinois, to his late home in 1870. The family ties were first broken when on Sept. 20, 1895, the mother and wife died, since then he lived most of the time with his daughter on the home place.

He was converted at Penn Center in 1883 and became a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. He strove always to be true to his faith as a christian. Since the death of his wife his hope and faith in the inseparable reunion grew stronger. He has always taken interest in benevolent enterprises; in fact, all things that seemed to be the Master's business. His life was that of a pioneer. For 47 years he lived on the farm which he improved, located six miles south of Dexter. He was one of that class who saw the great transformation and rise of our country. His labors were fruitful in the accumulation of material things, but his interest was not in this alone, for always and especially in late years he read much, and had a lively interest in all that was good.

Those mourning his death are four children, eighteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren, three sisters, two brothers and a large number of friends and neighbors. Funeral services and burial were held at the Penn Center church, conducted by Rev. Walter Wayranch, a former pastor, assisted by Rev. Carl Clark and Rev. Ilgenfritz.
