Page 1Death of Mrs. Claire M. Rankin
Mrs. Claire M. Rankin, who formerly made her home in Madison county, died last Friday at her home in Cairo, Missouri. She had been ill for a week with gall stones. Mrs. Rankin was Miss Pearl Duff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Duff.
Rev. F. Clare McCallon conducted the funeral services at the Church of Christ, Sunday, January 28th, at 2 o’clock, and burial was made in the local cemetery.

Page 4Pearle Mae Rankin, daughter of Leota and Frank Duff, was born in Winterset, Madison county, on December 22, 1900, and departed this life January 27, 1928, aged 27 years, 1 month and 5 days.
She was always a strong believer in the Christ and his followers in her daily tasks. She was the first child in a family of eleven children, her mother having preceded her in death four years ago, and one sister in infancy.
On November 22, 1919, she was united in marriage to Claire M. Rankin, of Winterset. To this union were born four children, Mary Lee, age 7, Murray, age 5, Norma Claire, age 2 and Joe Max, 3 months. She was a very devoted wife and loving mother.
Soon after their marriage they moved to Missouri, where they now reside near Cairo. Mrs. Rankin has been a sufferer of gallstones for over five years, but she bore her trouble without complaint. She was taken to the hospital at Moberly, Missouri on January 26, where she was found to be in a too weakened condition to operate.
She passed away at five-thirty on January 27, leaving to mourn their loss her husband, four children, father, three brothers, six sisters, besides a host of friends and neighbors.
The funeral at the Church of Christ, was conducted by Rev. F. Clare McCallon. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
