IDA THORNBURG ADAMS

Ida J. Thronburg, daughter of William and Elizabeth Thornburg, was born at Winterset, Iowa, Feb. 14, 1864. Here she spent her childhood, attended school, and grew to young womanhood.

During the latter 80's she came to Oakdale and engaged in the business of dressmaking. In 1890 she was married to Geo. H. Adams, at the home of her uncle, G. W. Thornburg, in this city. With her husband she removed to Colorado and later to Glasgow, Mont., where she resided for 12 years. Upon the death of her mother she returned to Winterset to care for her aged father, and resided at that place until a year ago, when she came to Oakdale to keep house for her uncle.

On Easter Sunday of this year she suffered an attack of the grip and inflammatory rheumatism developed. Heart trouble, which had bothered her for some time was aggravated and her troubles refused to yield to the treatment of local physicians. On May 14 she was taken to Norfolk for treatment at the hospital, but secured no relief, and failed gradually until her death on Sunday, May 27, 1917.

The deceased was the mother of two children: Mrs. Helen M. Hauge of Glasgow, Mont., and Robert S. Adams of Omaha; both of whom were with their mother during the last week of her sickness. Besides her children, she is survived by three brothers and four sisters.

Early in life Mrs. Adams united with the Christian church and remained a faithful member to the time of her death. She was a member of the Oakdale Rebekah lodge and of the Royal Neighbors of America.

Funeral services were held at the home of G. W. Thornburg on Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. C. F. Steiner pastor of the M. E. church and interment was made in the Oakdale cemetery.
