COUNTY NEWS – ST. CHARLES

J. D. Peffley went to Kansas City Friday to meet Mrs. Peffley and Mrs. Clanton who were returning with the body of Mrs. Clanton, who died at her home in Norwalk, California on Monday, May 14.

The corpse of Mrs. C. F. Clanton, who died in California, arrived Saturday at 4:15 p. m. over the C. & G. W. Funeral services were conducted at the M. E. church Sunday by Rev. Orcutt assisted by Rev. Baker and McElroy.

In Mrs. Clanton’s death the community lost one of its true and best friends, a kind and considerate neighbor, a devoted parent and wife. All who knew her were her friends and they are legions, her chief delight was in doing good and in cheering those about her by her ever present kindness both in word and action.

She leaves, who deeply feel this loss, a husband, one daughter, Mrs. J. D. Peffley, and two sons, G. W. and J. D., one son having preceded her to that home eternal and whose hands on doubt have long since been long since clasped with mothers.
