JAMES WESLEY BOLING

James Wesley Boling was born April 2, 1840, in Putnam county, Indiana. After a long illness died March 16, 1917. He was the eighth child of a family of twelve children, of which only one is living, Preston C. Boling of Lorimor. He came with his parents to Iowa in 1855 and in 1861 enlisted in Co. A. 39th Iowa Volunteer Infantry and was taken prisoner in Tennessee. After contracting typhoid fever was given an honorable discharge.

He then returned to Iowa and was married to Sophia J. Wilson Nov. 10, 1864. They moved to Terre Haute, Ind., where they remained two years. To this union was born one son, George A. Boling of Lorimor. They returned to Madison county, Iowa, where they lived until 1901. They came to Lorimor, where they were living at the time of Mrs. Boling's death in 1912. He united with the church in 1897.

He was thoughtful, kind hearted and energetic and will be missed by his son, George A. Boling and daughter in law of Lorimor and grand daughter, Opal Boling of Des Moines, other relatives and friends.

The funeral was held from the Christian church at Lorimor, conducted by Rev. Smith of Des Moines and the Masonic order of Lorimor. He was laid to rest in the Lorimor cemetery.
