William George Fink, the son of Mary Schmidt and Jacob Fink, was born April 2, 1912 and departed this life December 28, 1970 at 9:30 a.m.

George was born on a farm south of Dexter, Iowa amidst a winter of snow storms and blocked roads, which caused Dr. Sherman to walk 2 miles across fields to reach the home.

In 1925 he moved with his parents to the present home place and resided there until his death. George attended country school in Madison county, Penn No. 9 and in Adair county, Lincoln Township No. 5. Then he completed his education by graduating from the Stuart High School.

George was engaged in farming all his life. In 1938 he and his brother Eldon began farming together. In 1941, Eldon entered military service and George operated the farm in his absence. After 3 ˝ years in the armed services, Eldon returned and the two brothers have been partners since.

George was a member of the Penn Center United Methodist Church, having united there in early boyhood. He attended Sunday School faithfully and until his passing maintained the faith of his youth.

George was ill only a short time, and his death, which came unexpectedly following a heart attack, was a terrible shock to the family.

His home and his loved ones were always of great concern to him. He was a loving brother and always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone. He was happiest when out among the fields and engaged in tilling the soil. Nature spoke to him of God’s greatness and goodness there.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Fink. He is survived by four sisters and three brothers: Daisy and Eldon of the home place; Mrs. Albert (Edith) Lovell, Mrs. Raymond (Esther) Boyle, both of Stuart; Mrs. Clarence (Ila) Lindahl, of Des Moines, Iowa; Fred of Dexter, Iowa and Oliver of Earlham, Iowa.

George’s death will be sadly felt by the above named loved ones, also nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Services were held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 31, from the Stuart United Methodist Church with Rev. Eugene C. Sears officiating. Music was furnished by Robert Lawson, organist. Assisting with the flowers were Mrs. Francis Shea and Mrs. Earnest Brown. Pallbearers were Dean Williams, Edgar Brown, Harold Williamson, Earnest Brown, Francis Hochstetler and Francis Shea. Interment was in South Oak Grove cemetery at Stuart.
