MRS. E. A. WISE

Mrs. E. A. Wise was born August 10, 1835 at Gerry, Chautauqua county, New York and died March 21, 1917, aged 78 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Ms. Wise, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Ann Potter, was one of the early pioneers in the state of Iowa. She came here with her parents about 1850, and passed through all the experiences which those early settlers endured in order to open up the new country. She was united in marriage with Daniel Wise in Marion, Linn county, Iowa, in 1857 and their names appear conspicuously in the Benton, Linn and Woodbury county histories. She spent almost her entire life in Iowa.

Here seven children were born and brought up. Four of these with her husband have preceded her in death. Three children survive her: Willard A., of Houston, Texas; John V., of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. E. F. Powell of Winterset, with whom she has made her home for the past five years. Mrs. Wise had a strong constitution, was always cheerful and happy, and when the end came she was ready to go.

She brought her letter to the Presbyterian church of this place when she came here in 1912.

Dr. Corkey conducted the funeral at the home on Thursday afternoon.
