The death of Addison C. Douglas occurred at his home in Truro, March 7th, at the age of 75 years. Mr. Douglas' parents left Ohio in 1850,settling first in Lee county, then in Van Buren county, Iowa. In 1862, Mr. Douglas joined Co.I, 19th Iowa Infantry, serving three years, then returned to Van Buren county. Here his marriage occurred in 1867 to Miss Mary J. Christy. Four sons came to them; Stephen A., now postmaster at Adel; Ernest E., of Winterset; Fred L. and Martin L., both of Ohio township. Mrs. Douglas also survives her husband.
For 50 years Mr. Douglas has lived in Ohio township with the esteem and respect of all who knew him. The burial took place on Friday, March 9th at the Hartman cemetery.

The death of Addison C. Douglas of Truro occurred on March 7, the funeral being held on the 9th. The services were conducted by the pastor of the Christian church.
Mr. Douglas was born in Trumbull county, Ohio, in September, 1841, and came to Lee county, Iowa with his parents in 1849, later removing to a farm in Van Buren county.
When the Civil war broke out Mr. Douglas enlisted in the Nineteenth Iowa and was mustered out in 1866. He came to Madison county in 1867 and bought 80 acres in Ohio township. He retired from the farm in 1905 and moved to Truro.
He was married to Miss Mary Christy in February 1867. They have four children, Stephen A. who is postmaster of Adel; Edwin of Winterset, Fred and Luther of Truro.
Mrs. Douglas herself, an aged woman, was dangerously sick during her husband’s last illness.
Mrs. Douglas was well known in the southeastern part of the county and took prominent part in the life of the community and was one of its best citizens.
