OBITUARY

Mrs. Cora Thornton, daughter of Henry and Christina Holderbaum was born on a farm in Penn township on Nov. 21, 1871 and passed away at her home south of Dexter at 2 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, June 2, 1949.

Cora was confirmed in the Lutheran church early in life but in later years united with the Presbyterian church to which she has been a faithful member.

On October 24, 1906 she was united in marriage to William C. Thornton. To this union was born one son who died in infancy. Mr. Thornton preceded her in death Dec. 22, 1938. She was a devoted wife and shared her time and love with her one brother, two sisters and nieces and nephews. Though denied a family of her own, other people at various times enjoyed the comforts of her home.

She continued to live on the farm after the death of her husband, where with the faithful services of Otis Sirdoris and other helpers she was able to spend her last years at the home she loved so well.

She was the last of a family of twelve children and is survived by one sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. She has been an invalid for several years but has bourn her suffering patiently and always appreciated any deed of thoughtfulness done for her by others.

Note: Burial was made in the Dexter cemetery.
